Warming up the engine…
A short, honest list. The essentials keep the site working; analytics only runs if you say yes.
Rider Wiki is a trading name of Pink Commerce Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company no. 15562017), registered office Suite 206, Britannia House, 11 Glenthorne Road, London, England, W6 0LH. This page explains exactly which cookies we use.
These keep the site working - saving your shopping list, remembering your cookie choice, and keeping you signed in. Under UK PECR and the EU ePrivacy rules they don't require consent, and you can't turn them off while using the site.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
rw_session | An anonymous identifier that links your shopping list to you without needing an account. HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax. | ~1 year |
rw_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies. | ~1 year |
| Neon Auth session cookies | Keep you signed in if you have an account. Set and managed by our authentication provider, Neon Auth (powered by Stack Auth). | Session / sign-in window |
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand which guides and bikes people use, so we can improve the site. GA4 runs through Google Consent Mode v2: by default it is set to denied and writes nothing. It only starts - and only then sets its cookies - once you click Accept on the banner.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics - distinguishes anonymous visitors. Set only after consent. | Up to 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics - persists session state per property. Set only after consent. | Up to 2 years |
We collect analytics with IP anonymisation enabled, and we never use advertising or remarketing cookies.
When you make a voluntary donation, start a monthly supporter subscription, or pay a classifieds listing fee, we send you to Stripeto enter your card details. Stripe sets its own strictly-necessary cookies on its payment pages to process the payment securely and to detect fraud. These are set by Stripe, governed by Stripe's own cookie and privacy notices, and only come into play when you actually make a payment. We do not set payment cookies ourselves, and Stripe's payment cookies are not used for advertising.
rw_consent (or all Rider Wiki cookies) in your browser brings the banner back so you can choose again. If you previously accepted, clearing the _ga / _ga_* cookies removes the analytics identifiers too.For visitors in the UK and EU, analytics is opt-in: nothing analytics-related runs until you actively accept. For visitors in the US, analytics may run unless you opt out by choosing Reject. Either way, the banner gives you the choice and we honour it through Consent Mode.
