Rider Wiki is a trading name of Pink Commerce Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company no. 15562017), registered office Suite 206, Britannia House, 11 Glenthorne Road, London, England, W6 0LH. In this policy "we", "us" and "Rider Wiki" mean Pink Commerce Ltd. This policy is in plain English; the regulatory mapping is under "Your rights" below.
Who we are
We run Rider Wiki (riderwiki.com), a free motorcycle-maintenance reference. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@riderwiki.com.
Cookies we set
We set a small number of strictly-necessary cookies to run the site, and - only with your consent - Google Analytics cookies. The complete, itemised list (names, purposes and lifetimes) lives in our cookie policy.
What we store
- Account email and authentication data. If you register, your email address and sign-in credentials are stored and managed by our authentication provider, Neon Auth (powered by Stack Auth). We use it to identify you and to send transactional emails (verification, password recovery). Never for marketing.
- Anonymous shopping list. Items you add are stored against the anonymous
rw_sessionidentifier in your cookie, so your list follows you across visits without an account. On its own this identifier doesn't identify you. - Optional email on submissions. If you include an email when you suggest a bike or submit a correction, we store it with that submission so we can reply. Optional, and only used to respond to you.
- Garage and route data (if you create it). Bikes you track and routes you save are stored against your account or session so we can show them back to you.
- Payment records (if you donate, subscribe or pay a classifieds fee). When you make a voluntary donation, start a monthly supporter subscription, or pay a classifieds listing fee, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe handles all card data; we keep only a record of the payment (amount, currency, date, a Stripe reference, and for subscriptions whether it is active or cancelled) so we can recognise supporters, manage subscriptions and handle refunds.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the site is used, loaded through Google Consent Mode v2. Analytics defaults to denied and writes nothing until you accept on the cookie banner. UK/EU visitors must opt in; US visitors may opt out. IP anonymisation is enabled. See the cookie policy for the cookies involved.
Third parties
We rely on a few processors and external services. Limited data may flow to:
- Vercel - hosting and content delivery for the site.
- Neon - our Postgres database (US region), which stores the data above.
- Stack Auth / Neon Auth - managed identity and authentication for registered users (email + credentials).
- Google Analytics - usage analytics, only after consent (see above).
- Stripe - payment processing for voluntary donations, monthly supporter subscriptions and classifieds listing fees. Your card details are entered into and handled by Stripe, not stored by us. Stripe is its own data controller for that card data.
- Resend - sends our emails. These are transactional emails (verification, password recovery, replies to your submissions, payment and subscription receipts) and, where relevant, notification emails you can opt out of. Never advertising or marketing to third parties.
- Retailers & external sites - community-posted deal and gear links point straight to the retailer (no affiliate tags, no tracking redirect); clicking one is an ordinary outbound link, after which that site sees your browser as normal.
- OpenStreetMap - when you view route maps, your browser fetches map tiles directly from OSM, which sees your IP.
- Cloudflare Turnstile (if enabled) - an anti-bot challenge on submission forms; your browser may send minimal interaction signals.
Your rights
UK & EU (GDPR). You have the right to access, rectify, erase, port and object to our processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with the UK ICO (ico.org.uk) or your local EU data protection authority. Our legal basis is legitimate interest for running the site, and consent for analytics and any optional email you provide.
US / California.You have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of any "sale" of personal information. We do not sell your data.
To exercise any right, email hello@riderwiki.comfrom the address on your account or quote the submission you're asking about. We act on valid requests within 30 days.
Retention
- Anonymous session key (
rw_session): until you clear cookies, or ~1 year. - Optional emails on submissions: kept with the submission until it's resolved, then removed.
- Account email and saved garage/route data: until you delete your account.
- Payment records (donations, subscriptions, classifieds fees): kept as long as needed for accounting and tax records as required by law.
Children
The site isn't directed at anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
